Brighten Up Your Life With Our Unique Products!

We offer two product lines at our store. These two lines come from different worlds: Glass candle holders from Eastern Europe and the Lacquer paintings from Vietnam. Both lines are unique, hand made and hand painted, and we hope you'll love them.

Unique Glass Candle HoldersWe offer a wide variety of unique glass candle holders of different shapes (bowls, lamps, bells, etc.) made by various candle holder manufacturers in Eastern Europe. The unique votives and tea light holders offered here are designed and made in Eastern Europe using techniques and expertise that date back to the 19th century.  The artists use the best paints and glitter that is imported from German company "Caparol". These paints are safe and are often recommended for painting for small children. Today, these votives warm hearts and homes of many people all across Canada and Europe.

Lacquer Painting Lacquer Painting come from Vietnam and in Vietnamese is called Son Mai, which when literally translated, means Grind Paint. The foundation for lacquer painting is constructed from wood with several coats of lacquer to provide strength and ensure a flat base. In addition, the lacquer artist may also use egg and river shells, gold and silver leaf, all of which can be applied as larger pieces or in a powdered form. Lacquer paintings requires minimal sanding, a process which is integral to "son mai". In the process, the lacquer is applied in layers of different color and varying thickness. Through sanding it is possible to bring underlying layers back to the surface. The artist must thus control the thickness of lacquer in order to create the desired color and texture. After the painting and sanding is complete begins the lengthy process of polishing. The surface is polished firstly with human hair and then with the fingers or palm of the hand, using a low abrasive powdered charcoal.
